SafeTales Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24 June 2026

SafeTales is operated by Tech Wave Innovations. This Privacy Policy explains how SafeTales handles information when parents use the SafeTales app and website.

SafeTales is designed as a parent-controlled story generation app. It is not an open chat service for children, and parents should not enter children’s personal information into the app.

1. Who we are

SafeTales is provided by Tech Wave Innovations. For privacy or support questions, contact us through support.techwaveinnovations.co.uk.

2. Information we collect

SafeTales aims to collect as little personal information as possible. Depending on how you use the app, we may process:

  • Story generation choices, such as selected category and story length.
  • Generated story text returned by the SafeTales backend.
  • Basic technical information needed to provide the service, such as request time, app version, device type, and error logs.
  • Subscription status and purchase entitlement information provided by Apple, where premium features are used.
  • Support messages and contact details you provide if you contact us.

3. Children’s information

SafeTales is intended to be used by parents or guardians. The app does not require children to create accounts, disclose names, provide contact details, upload photos, share location, or submit sensitive personal information.

Parents should avoid entering personal details about a child, including full name, address, school, phone number, email address, health information, or any other identifying or sensitive information. If we become aware that child personal information has been submitted through support or other channels, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

4. How story generation works

When a parent asks SafeTales to generate a story, the app sends the selected story category and length to the SafeTales backend. The backend securely calls an AI service provider to create the story. The app does not expose or store the AI provider API key.

Story prompts are structured around parent-selected categories and safety instructions. Generated output is checked before being shown in the app. No automated system is perfect, so parents should review stories before reading them to children.

5. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Generate and display stories requested by the parent.
  • Apply free and premium usage limits.
  • Provide saved story functionality on the device.
  • Maintain, debug, secure, and improve the app and backend.
  • Respond to support requests.
  • Comply with legal, regulatory, and App Store obligations.

6. Saved stories

Stories saved inside the app are intended to be stored locally on the user’s device unless a future version clearly introduces cloud syncing. If you delete the app or delete saved stories, those local copies may be removed from the device according to Apple’s normal app data behaviour.

7. Subscriptions and payments

SafeTales subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your full payment card details. Apple may provide purchase status and transaction entitlement information so the app can unlock premium features.

8. Third-party service providers

We may use trusted service providers to operate SafeTales, including:

  • Apple, for App Store distribution, in-app purchases, and subscription management.
  • AI infrastructure providers, to generate stories from parent-selected categories and safety instructions.
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers, to run the SafeTales backend and website.
  • Support tools, if you contact us for help.

These providers process information only as needed to provide their services to us, subject to their own security and privacy obligations.

9. Legal bases for processing

Where UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, our legal bases may include performance of a contract, legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, compliance with legal obligations, and consent where required.

10. Data retention

We keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy. Technical logs are generally kept for a limited period for security, debugging, and service reliability. Support messages may be kept for as long as needed to resolve the request and maintain business records.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect information, including routing AI calls through a backend rather than placing API keys in the app. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to reduce risk and limit the information processed.

12. International transfers

Our service providers may process information in countries outside your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as contractual protections, adequacy decisions, or other lawful transfer mechanisms.

13. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of personal information. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

To make a privacy request, contact us through support.techwaveinnovations.co.uk.

14. App Store privacy information

Apple may require privacy nutrition labels or other disclosures in App Store Connect. Those disclosures should be read together with this Privacy Policy. If there is a difference, this policy explains our broader privacy practices, while App Store labels summarise Apple’s required categories.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as SafeTales changes. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice in the app or on this website.
